Its design allows the weight of the camera to stay centered over the tripod during vertical or portrait shots, and it attaches to your camera with an Arca-swiss compatible quick release clamp so it is quickly removed for hand held shots. Great Product!
I've been able to create two panoramas since my purchase. Waiting for the foliage to try for more. Works great on my Canon 7D with the vertical grip on the GP Ballhead. Once again, great product.

Price is right
I use Really Right Stuff Ball, my camera has a none manufacturer Battery grip and RRS does not fit it. I found the Universal L plate to work excellent and I can keep my Battery grip. Item i well made and extremely stable.

This product is the best universal L bracket!
This is the best universal L bracket in the world. I looked up major brand of L bradket for camera with battery grip and bigger camera such as Nikon D4, Canon EOS 1DX. Arca Swiss, Kirk, BENRO and other brand's L brackets are not universal or too small those cameras. I strongly recommend to use this product with GV2 ball head when you take vertical position.

L Bracket
I had trouble visualising how this worked but it is great. Well made unit and I am very happy with how easy it is to attach to the tripod and snap the camera on and off to go landscape or portrait.
