Author: Pete Konrad (petesfstop.com) I have used this for over a year (V2) and love it. Very tight, even with 100-400 with EX-2 fully extended on Canon bodies. The safety pin has prevented camera and body from falling numerous times. This is an excellent product - well thought out.

Author: Josh Dobbs I'm a serious amateur who bought the GV2 because I wanted the ease of a ballhead. I did my research and glad I did. After reading that the ball was easy to clean I made my decision. It is strong, smooth, easy to adjust, and holds fast. I was used to a lever design for the quick release and I didn't think I would like the knob but I was pleasantly surprised. It is fast and it stays put. Thanks Acratech worth every penny.

Author: Jay Dickman I've been using various ballheads (Linhof, Arca Swiss) for a few years, suffering through the problems of grit, water and inclement weather, and had been ogling the Acratech for a while. I finally saw one owned by a fellow photographer, and shortly afterwards, made the conversion to the \"light side\". this is easily the best ballhead I\'ve used, fulfilling all those critical needs: lightweight, strength and functionality. Incredible product.

Author: Don Libby I’ve owned and used a GV2 for several years now without any problems whatsoever. I’ve used this along with a Canon 1Ds II and Canon 300 and 400 lens and more recently am using it with medium format cameras both a Phase One 645 as well as a Cambo RS 1000. This ballhead has served me well from the deserts of Arizona to the cold wet areas of Alaska.
Simply put, this is the best ballhead I’ve had the pleasure to own and use.

Author: Stephen Stewart Wow, what a head! I am a 20+ year professional and have always used manfrotto geared heads. I was once given a ball head at the beginning of my career and I couldn\'t figure out what the fuss was about and thought they were a terrible and dangerous thing to use. So twenty years later I was looking for a leveling base and stumbled across these guys via B&H.
Well when the base arrived I was amazed at its engineering and how light it was. So amazed that I went straight to this site and read everything on it. Then I read every other competitors site, but from what I could research these guys had the edge. So I made the leap over to a ball head based on the engineering of the base and bought the GV2 head, what a thing of beauty it is! So light yet so strong.
I lugged this head and my carbon fibre tripod around Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam for three weeks at the beginning of 2009 with out any weight problems. I dragged it all over Ankor Wat, people were looking at me thinking why would you lug that heavy thing around, you must be crazy, or incredibly fit. It was stinking hot and I ain't fit by any stretch of the imagination but they didn't know how light it actually was, wasn't a problem, looks heavy but isn't!.
I thought I wouldn't like the locking knob but found it really easy to use and I don't think I would like a quick release, after using the locking knob a quick release knob would not add anything to this head, other than more weight. I like the feel of the knob and how it locks the plate.
So if you are thinking about purchasing this head don't hesitate, do it! Also get the leveling base as it it a breeze to use, makes for really fast leveling and makes the perfect match with the head, you will not regret these purchases ever.
I use Canon, Nikon and H2 Blad/PhaseOne.
I have never given a product any endorsement, but I can't keep my mouth shut about this one! I have spent lots of money on gear over the years and I have to say this is the best money I have ever spent!

Author: Dan I wish you provide the weight of all the ball heads in detail!
Less that 1 pound wont cut it for me. I need to know the exact weight, it is the most important factor for me to decide.
