Acratech designed this differently from other plate manufacturer such as Kirk. They are minimalist, the plate does not have slot for hand strap, does not have hole to attach to regular head (eg. attaching to non clamp head with the plate already attached to camera), and use non capture screw.
All for good reasons, slot would make it bigger, additional hole would make it thicker, like the Kirk plate, and non capture screw so they don't have to create a groove on the screw which might compromise strength.
This plate is a good 2-3 mm thinner than the comparable Kirk plate. Seems lighter too, but can't verify this. The finish is matte instead of glossy (glossy looks better IMHO) and it attached fine to either Markins or Kirk clamp that I use. Once installed it does not twist. I wish they print the model number on it though.
