  • Engraved degree markings.
  • Solid precision feel.
  • Made in U.S.A.
  • All knobs are secured so they cannot vibrate loose and fall off.
  • Available with an Indexable clamp that eliminates the need to carry a second tripod head for camera bodies without lens tripod collars

Although our Long Lens Head is designed primarily for long telephoto lenses our long lens head is available with an indexable clamp that will allow the long lens head to be used with cameras that do not have a lens with a tripod collar. When the Long Lens Head is used with the camera body attached directly to the head most all camera positions are accessible. The Long lens head should not be considered as a replacement for a ballhead for general photography but it does allow the photographer who is primarily shooting long lenses, to not be required to carry a second tripod head into the field for occasional shorter lens shots.

I have used this head on a Gitzo 2540LVL for almost a year. I use the combination with canon XXD cameras and 24-105mm, 300mm and 500mm lens. The combo is a little lite in a stiff breeze with the 500mm but it's quite good otherwise. Good enough that the gimbal stays home now. The carrying weight of this head is a really big advantage. plus turning it and using it for landscape with the short lens beats anything else I have used including the original Acratech and the RRS BH55. I would hate to have to go back to being without it.

Just stepping up to this from a Bogen 3421, and it's a big, big step up. A triumph of engineering. Lightweight, compact, easy to transport.

I have a Canon 600 f4 mounted on it - the old non-IS version, which weighs in at a hefty 13.5 pounds. Connected to a 1DsMkII, which is probably as heavy a body as there is out there. No problem for the head.

Operation is smooth, tension adjustments simple. Haven't even gotten into the versatility of this thing yet.

Gear like this is supposed to simplify the task of taking good shots. Stability and smoothness are even more essential with non-IS lenses than with the IS versions. This gear succeeds on all counts.

I had Canon 600㎜ lens before, but traded in it for ZUIKO 300㎜ lens of Olympus.
I was able to change the tripod to a lighter thing by it.
I purchased Gizzo 1320 and SLIK TELE BALANCE 3.

The TELE BALANCE 3 is a good product.
However, unfortunately SLIK does not sell a lens plate suitable for ZUIKO 50-200㎜ lens.

I looked for Heads newly.
The impression I used Acratech Long Lens Head for is very splendid.
This is very compact, and movement is smooth.
I use it in ZUIKO 50-200㎜ and 300㎜ lens.
The Ultimate Ballhead is favorite one of me.
However, I like Long Lens Head than it.
I think that I do not need Heads which is more expensive than this.
I will use this habitually for a long time.

The build quality of this head is excellent. The reason I didn't give it five stars is because there is no graduation in the locking of the base. It's either comletely free or locked. There's no point where it's locked but can be moved with reasonable force like a ballhead.

This limits its use as a ballhead replacement but otherwise its a very good product.

It would be perfect for landscape photographers.
